Police Secondary School Ukana was built and furnished by the Akwa Ibom State Government under the leadership of His Excellency Chief (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON. It was officially commissioned by the then Inspector-General of Police, Hafiz A. Ringim NPM, Mni (Rtd) on the 8th of June, 2011.
The school took off with a total enrollment of 232 students at inception with 45 teaching staff, 31 non-teaching staff and 22 police personnel to fortify security.
Today, the student enrollment has grown to over a thousand students and counting with corresponding increase in teaching and non-teaching staff. The tremendous growth is determined by the quality of work done and the availability of required facilities and infrastructure for productive learning.
The school has almost everything needed to make learning top class. The serenity of the environment is next to none and gives conduciveness for effective and efficient teaching and learning process. The school boasts of well equipped hostels, classroom blocks, laboratories, libraries, administrative blocks, sick-bay, sports and fitness facilities and lots more. All well finished and equipped by both the Akwa Ibom State Government and The Nigeria Police. The school has a fantastic network of well paved roads, constant round the clock electricity and water supply.
